People who have recently become disabled and/or their loved ones might not fully understand the implications of the specific condition.We can provide you and/or you loved ones with information pertaining to your condition free of charge.

Safety is a priority

Your safety is of paramount importance to us, that is why we ensure that our caregivers are properly security screened and reference checked. We ensure that they have the right temperament to deal with a crisis, that they follow specific security rules while in your home and that they know what to do during a fire, criminal attack and medical emergency – including basic First Aid procedures. And when it comes to those smaller emergency situations; our caregivers know how to fit an electric plug and change a light bulb!

We Provide Financial Guidance:

We know how critically important home-based care services are to people with disabilities. That is why we charge very affordable rates and work with you in developing a financially sustainable package based on your specific needs and budget constraints.

• Should you qualify for any of the disability grants that are available, we will involve our Social Workers in securing such assistance for you.
• Together we will explore the possibility of you being compensated via your medical aid society or insurance company.
• If you are the victim of a vehicle accident, we will guide you regarding care-giving claims you can lodge with the Road Accident Fund.
• We will provide you with valuable information concerning the tax benefits available to you from SARS.
• We are not trying to get rich at your expense: all the income we generate through the Lean On Us Care Service is used by the APD to provide essential services to people with disabilities in previously disadvantaged communities.

Our Services:

PROCASA will provide assistance to general wellbeing and safety, personal hygiene and dressing, meal preparation and feeing, toileting, light domestic work, transport and so on – with a happy and engaged attitude – for as long as you need our help.

• Assistance for People who are Permanently Disabled: for as many hours and days as you require. 
• Assistance for People who are Temporarily Incapacitated: Aimed at able-bodied people who need somebody to care for them at home once they are discharged from hospital.
• After School and Holiday Care for Children with Disabilities: Aimed at parents who need assistance between 12h00 and 18h00 or when they go away on holiday. 
• Respite for Caregivers: flexi-time relief care to give the permanent caregiver some time off.
• Training for Domestic Workers: Aimed at people who need permanent assistance, but who can’t afford the costs involved in employing a caregiver.

You are unique – and we appreciate that

When we look for a suitable caregiver for you we look beyond someone who will be able to assist with your physical condition; we consider your personality, culture and life style. We therefore conduct an interview with you and undertake an assessment of your environment, including your pets and plants. There is a nominal fee attached to this process. This fee is, however, credited to the client when he/she signs a contract with us.

We listen and work with you: Experience has taught us that the way in which we provide personal, physical care-services to clients must be based on the specific needs, guidance and instruction of the client.

PROCASA is aware that our caregivers are a source of companionship and stimulation

Depending on your personal preferences, we could explore the following with you:

• Being a social benefit organisation, we have volunteers who could pay you a social visit at times when our caregiver is not in attendance.
• Depending on the availability of other people with disabilities in your area, we could explore the possibility of setting up either a social networking club or an arts and crafts skills group.
• Depending on your skills set, we could explore the possibility of you becoming a volunteer of our organisation.
